Who is a mentor and how is he different from a coach and trainer

Unlike a trainer or coach, a mentor is a specialist who has extensive experience in a specific professional field. He is ready to share his knowledge with other people to help them accelerate their professional development and make the right decisions.

At the same time, a coach and trainer can work with both designers and developers, but they may not have knowledge in design or programming. To a greater extent, they help specialists develop universal qualities and achieve personal goals.

How a mentor works with a mentee
Mentoring is like starting a project with a starting point and a desired outcome. This process can be roughly divided into the following stages.

Getting to know the specialist and studying his request.
Joint formulation of goals and analysis of problems that may interfere with the work process.
Active stage. The mentor sets an intermediate goal together with the mentee, and at the next meeting they discuss progress in promotion. During the session, specific work cases can also be discussed - how to cope with the workload or how to solve a certain problem. The mentor shares his experience and tells what he did in a similar situation.
The "mirror" stage. When the mentor sees that the specialist copes with the tasks on his own and his intervention is not required, he begins to simply observe him.
The final stage: the mentor and mentee jointly evaluate the work done, and at the end the mentor provides guidelines for the future.
Sometimes mentees return to their mentors after training to ask for advice on a specific issue or just to get support. They may meet just once and discuss several issues at once.
